Orkney Gin Company Akvavit by Orkney Spirits Limited, 70cl

Scotland’s first Akvavit, hand-crafted on the once Norse Orkney Islands in the North of Scotland. Akvavit (aquavit) is a Scandinavian spirit traditionally enjoyed during celebrations with an exceptional depth of flavour including caraway or dill seed. Orkney Akvavit was described as ‘brilliant at every level’ and ‘clean and bright’ by the Great Taste Awards judges in 2020, where it won an impressive and almost impossible three-star Great Taste Award (two times) followed by the highest ‘Masters’ award in the Spirits Business Luxury Masters 2020. At Orkney Gin Company, we prolong the distillation of our Orkney Akvavit, so that each botanicals oils and flavour come through slowly and gently. Distilled an incredible eight times, Orkney Akvavit is exceptionally smooth with refreshing and revitalising caraway, zesty orange and silky vanilla and several other handpicked botanicals. It is a true labour of love, made completely by hand in our small family run Island distillery overlooking Scapa Flow where Vikings once sailed. Akvavit is known as Scandinavian gin due to its similar botanical profile, however instead of prominent juniper, our expression has prominent refreshing caraway. Our family utilise our award-winning knowledge in gin making to make this a truly unique distilled spirit which can be enjoyed by gin enthusiasts, lovers of all things Scandi, or the modern Viking! Orkney Akvavit can be enjoyed much how you would drink a gin – with Indian tonic, flavoured tonic, ginger ale, lemonade or the traditional way – on it’s own with an ale in the other hand!
