Founding vocalist & guitarist Joy Von Spain, guitarist Nicholas Martinez, and noise/sound collage artist Masaaki Masao were joined in 2017 by bassist Zach Wise and drummer Luke LaPlante. Recorded by renowned producer Billy Anderson (Bell Witch, Pallbearer) at The Hallowed Halls in Portland, Oregon and mastered by Brad Boatright (Gatecreeper, Necrot), their new LP Black Somnia centers on themes of fear, control, and anxiety while shape-shifting through a lens of blackened psychedelia and doom. Commented vocalist Joy Von Spain: "The album is an exploration of the forces of fear and control, responses to these insidious, unseen powers, the specter that remains when we awaken from mysterious and frightening dreams. Billy Anderson worked with us on ideas to preserve the noisier elements of our sound and the layers of atmosphere." The visual elements for Black Somnia were created in collaboration with occult photographer and artist Carlos Melgoza (Anima Nocturna) and an international group of Butoh performers (Alan Sutherland, Vanessa Skantze, Marina Sossi) with Susan DuMett (Vox Vespertinus). Black Somnia's first print run was issued in the US as a vinyl-only edition pressing limited to 250. Through the prominence of Black Somnia's original pressing, the result is an official worldwide release through Prophecy (first time ATTENTION: please remember that all Blu-Rays are Region A USA and all DVDs Region 1 USA and you will need a multi region Blu-Ray/DVD player to play them.
