Product Description

Every design created by Charles and Ray Eames was produced with their mantra in mind: 'Getting the most of the best to the greatest number of people, for the least'. Perhaps the best demonstration of this philosophy is the 'Plastic Chair DSW', a design classic conceived in 1948 for the 'Low-Cost Furniture Design' competition organised by the Museum of Modern Art. In the years since, the chair has gained cult-like status. Notable for its one-piece seat that is shaped to fit the contours of the human body, the chair is crafted from glass-fibre reinforced polyester resin — a material that ensures mouldability, rigidity and suitability for industrial manufacturing. After nearly 70 years on the market, manufacturer Vitra has added approximately 20 mm to the chair's height for added comfort when paired with contemporary tables.
