The flexi mouthpiece is 'warmer' than a traditional stainless steel mouthpiece, which encourages acceptance of the bit. For this reason, the flexi mouthpiece is a good choice for younger horses and those with a sensitive mouth. This Mullen Mouth Snaffle's main action is on the bars of the mouth and the horse's tongue, however it is extremely mild and is a perfect first mouthing and ridden bit. This bit encourages the horse to take a contact, as the fixed ring sits stiller in the horse's mouth than a fulmer snaffle. The full cheeks on this bit help to improve steering, so it is ideally suited to young horses and ponies who are just starting their ridden career, or those horses who need more guidance under saddle.
