Agapanthus Brilliant Blue

Agapanthus Brilliant Blue, as the name suggests, is an excellent cut flower plant that blooms brilliant blue flowers throughout the summer. This hardy variety is native to Africa, thus sometimes also known as the African Lily. Its perfect compact growing habit makes it ideal for container gardening. It presents prolific flowering that will attract bees and butterflies, creating a lush summer display in your garden. Agapanthus blooms trumpet-shaped, intense blue flowers that are simply soothing to the eyes and mind. These flowers are produced upon upright stems from June to August. Lush green strap-like leaves form a clump in the centre that gives a dense look to the plant base. This dense foliage can make the perfect ground cover when grown in groups. In winters, the narrow leaves will die back to the ground, only to rise again in spring. Plant African Lily in full sun as it is a plant that creates a stunning performance that suits full sunlight. It will equally grow well in semi-shade but planted only in a well-drained soil. These are hardy plants but still may require a layer of mulch to cover the base in winter. African Lily is an easy to grow plant that required low maintenance, including low pruning. Trim any faded stems in autumn. These are drought tolerant plants that do not require any special fertilizer. Agapanthus Brilliant Blue are suitable for patio containers as they create an architectural structure in the pots. Use them in front of borders or at the foot of a wall. Nothing makes them more special than their application in cut flower gardening. Pot Size: 9cm Plant Height (Inc. Pot): 10-20cm Characteristics: Hardy herbaceous perennial, prolific flowering in summer, dazzling azure blue flowers, lush green strap-like leaves, perfect for containers on patio Growth & Spread: Height 0.6m - 0.8m, Spread 0.45m - 0.6m Flourishing Season: Flourishes throughout summer, flowers in June - August Water & Maintenance: Average watering required, low maintenance plants
