Product Description

This vigorous growing sweet hardy shrub produces magical creamy white blooms which a rich pink-red scented centre, that creates displays similar to a magnolia, with yet a dense compact fast growing habit. ‘Venus’ will provide these tremendous exotic blooms from June all the way through to the end of August. The dense foliage is made up of glossy rich green leaves that transcend with the months by turning to a golden butter yellow tone towards the end of the season.Culinary note: Produces an edible and delicious spice. Snip off twigs and allow them to dry out in the sun or a low oven, then crush the bark and use like cinnamon.Acclimatise Calycanthus plants to outdoor conditions for a period of 7 to 10 days prior to planting in their final positions. Grow Calycanthus in borders, in moist, fertile, well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Choose a position in full sun. Water regularly until Carolina allspice plants are fully established.Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Once established, prune Calycanthus floridus in early spring as the buds begin to swell. Cut back all stems to a low permanent framework, 3 or 4 buds from the base of the plant. After pruning Carolina allspice, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Refunds
