Rhododendron 'Nova Zembla' is an easy to grow and colourful evergreen shrub, with fantastic dark green foliage situated on a sturdy upright plant. The most obvious feature of this variety is it's stunning deep red flowers that start to bloom around May, and are quickly joined by a smattering of dark spots. The flowers can fade to a deep pink when exposed to full sun, but these plants in general are extremely hardy, and are commonly used as a dense screen hedging when they reach full maturity. This plant can tolerate most soils so long as it is well-drained, and is equally suited to shaded or exposed areas of your garden.
