These deciduous trees will thrive in moist, well-drained soil - preferable loam, clay, sand or chalk soil. 'Dissectum' is a low-growing species, so to achieve strong coloured leaves, it's best to situate in partially shaded areas, however, they are full sun tolerant. Either of these positions will give it the best opportunity to thrive. Due to the trees hardy and bushy structure, they’re a fairly low maintenance plant to monitor. It’s recommended to prune lightly towards the end of Winter/early Spring to encourage fresh, variegated growth and to maintain shape form for the following season.
