Syringa Katherine Havemeyer Tree (10L, 5-6ft)

A small to medium-sized deciduous tree with beautiful flowers and an upright to spreading habit over time as it ages. The Syringa ‘Katherine Havemeyer’ is a variety of the very popular Lilac Tree with bright green, heart-shaped foliage beneath dense clusters of very fragrant, double lavender-purple flowers which fade to pink over time. The lovely blooms will appear around mid-Spring and last until the Summer, its petals fading to provide a bicolour effect on the petals. An exceptional and reliable breed suitable for smaller gardens. Plant in fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soils and keep in full or partial sun. Grows in most soils types but prefers alkaline to neutral, dry to medium-moisture soils. Tolerates lightly shaded areas but full sun will usually provide the best flower colour. Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may, therefore, differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. This plant will be supplied in a grower’s pot. Characteristics: Upright deciduous tree with spreading branches carrying mid-green, heart-shaped leaves and clusters of fragrant, double purple to pink flowers from Spring. Growth & Spread: Ultimate height and spread of 2 - 4m. Period of Interest: Spring and Summer interest. Dense panicles of small, highly fragrant double purple flowers from mid-Spring to Summer, fading to pink over time. Water & Maintenance: Plant in moist, fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil.
