Agapanthus Fireworks, sometimes known more commonly as the African Lily or Lily of the Nile, is a somewhat compact, clumping-forming perennial plant with very distinctive blooms growing in rich, dense clusters above the strap-shaped, mid-green foliage which grows in mounds beneath tall, rigid stems bearing trumpet-shaped, slightly nodding flowers with bicoloured purple and white petals. A slightly smaller variety of the species perfectly suited for container planting or as part of flowering shrub beds. Plant in moist, fertile, well-drained soils and keep in full sun in a sheltered position. Frost protection such as mulching is highly advised if planting outdoors. Container planting is another good option allowing the plant to be moved under glass in colder Winter weather.
