Gardeners Dream Passiflora Victoria Garden Plant - Exotic Blooms, Compact Size (20-30Cm Height Including Pot)

Passiflora ‘Victoria’ is one of the oldest known passion flower cultivars, known for attracting butterflies and for its distinctly shaped blossoms, with spreading purple tepals and a dark corona with emerging white-tipped filaments - they will appear each year from summer into autumn. The round, multicoloured centre of the flower is thought to aid bees and other pollinators in finding the nectar. Following the flowering period, orange fruit that are edible when ripe will emerge - the flavour profile is described as a sharp tartness. This gorgeous climbing vine is evergreen and winter hardy up to -8C, therefore in colder regions it may be grown best in a large container. It can then be moved into a conservatory or a greenhouse over the coldest months so you can enjoy its rich foliage year-round. Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only - The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves. Latin name: Passiflora violacea ‘Victoria’ Common name: Victoria passion vine, Passion flower ‘Victoria’ Supplied in 9cm pot Characteristics: Passiflora hybrid, Evergreen climber, pollinator friendly, frost hardy up to -8C, purple flowers, green foliage, vigorous growing, tropical looking, perfect for growing up a support (trellis, fence, obelisk) Plant advice: Your Passiflora will thrive in a position that benefits from full sun or partial shade. Use a well-drained / moist but well-drained soil composed of Loam or Sand. Fairly tolerant of most fertile soils, with an optimal pH of 6-6.5. Be sure to provide the climbing stems with support, such as an obelisk or a trellis. Avoid overfeeding as this will reduce flowering. Water deeply but infrequently to encourage the plant to reach deep into the soil for moisture and develop a strong root system.
