Stokesia Mel's Blue, commonly known as Stoke's Aster or Cornflower Aster, is a perennial with lots of interest that suits most settings. Dark green narrow, leathery leaves create a mound for fringed flowers in a gorgeous violet blue colour to bloom from elegant stems. These shaggy looking blooms flower from early summer through to early autumn.Bees, butterflies and other pollinators are attracted to Stokesia Mel's Blue and the flowers are well suited for cutting and bringing indoors to enjoy. This bushy clump forming perennial grows well in almost any soil and requires little maintenance to remain healthy and attractive.Stokeâs Aster is semi-evergreen and will provide an element of greenery in your garden through the winter months. The plant is hardy and can cope with cold temperatures to around -10°C.
