“Flaming Silver” is remarkable for its beautiful, variegated leaves of creamy white fringes and dark-green centres. Especially striking are the brilliant pinks and reds of new growth foliage in the spring time. Later in the season these colours change over to the creamy whites and greens throughout the rest of the plant. Eventually appearing as well in the spring time, are small, bell-shaped flowers on racemes hanging throughout the plant. These flowers are also fragrant. As it is a more acidic-loving plant, it is great to companion plant with azaleas and rhododendrons. They prefer sheltered areas with shade to partial shade. Although they appear rather hardy, they are in fact rather delicate and need shelter from cold winds and full sun. Tending towards a rounded habit form, this shrub is a brilliant standout throughout the seasons. And as it is more compact it is great for use in a variety of scenarios.
