Panicum virgatum Northwind is a deciduous, perennial grass with tall, linear, blue leaves forming an upright clump. In late summer, plentiful sprays of tiny, pink and green flowers bloom and continue to do so until autumn, when foliage turns golden yellow and rustic orange. Plant Panicum virgatum Northwind in moist, well-drained chalky, loamy or sandy soil in a sunny spot in the garden. Spring is the best time for pruning, removing any dead foliage and flowers.
