Product Description

Rudbeckia Summerina Orange is an intergeneric cross that combines the cheerful appearance of rudbeckia with the hardiness of echinacea. Also known as black eyed Susan, this perennial boasts large orange flowers that last from mid-summer through autumn. The daisy-like blooms take on a rusty hue as they near the copper brown centres, creating a striking floral display. Rudbeckia flowers are attractive to wildlife, bringing bees, butterflies and birds to the garden. Deadhead spent flowers to promote a second flush later in the season. Rudbeckia Summerina Orange makes a great addition to flower beds and borders. They are also well suited to containers and are an excellent choice for brightening patios and terraces. Like all herbaceous perennials, black eyed Susan dies back below ground at the end of the growing season. It spends the winter underground, safe from harsh temperatures and blossoms back to life in spring. Prune spent foliage at the end of autumn or the beginning of spring before new growth emerges. Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves. Characteristics: A vigorous, fast-growing flowering perennial with toothed dark green leaves and long-lasting blooms in shades of orange and copper. Growth and Spread: Ultimate height and spread of up to 60cm. Care and Maintenance: Rudbeckia plants thrive in partial shade and tolerate full shade. They prefer moist, well-draining soil and only need pruned to remove dead foliage in autumn or spring. Period of Interest: Foliage interest from spring to autumn. Flowers from June to October.
