Swatch James Bond Q 2020 No Time To Die Limited Edition Watch SS07Z100  Style: Suttirat Anne Larlarb, who is the costume designer for the upcoming Bond release âNo Time To Dieâ (featuring Daniel Craig), was the designer behind the Swatch James Bond Q Watch SS07Z100. It pays homage to Swatchâs favourite character, Q, who supplies Bond with his famous gadgets in the film series. The style of the watch reflects Qâs personality and style. The Case and Strap: It is based on the Swatch Skin Irony collection, which is Swatchâs most futuristic, thinnest and toughest designs yet. The case of the watch is just 6.7mm thick and 42mm wide, it is made of stainless steel and it has a matte finish. The intent of the watch was to incorporate âtimeless tradition and futuristic innovationâ. The featuring of a tartan plaid leather brown strap illustrates Swatchâs commitment to the timeless tradition of Bond. Desmond Llewyn (who played Q seventeen times) often wore a tartan shirt in his portrayal as Q. The strap fastens using a standard metal buckle. The Dial: Futuristic innovation is transmitted through the slick aluminium, ring shaped design of the dial. It features triangular shaped blue indices, with the Swatch logo at 12 and a âQâ at 6. The inclusion of âQâ on the dial is the only thing that sets the watch apart from the one that Ben Whishaw will wear in âNo Time To Dieâ. The sloping rehaut (inner bezel ring) is finished in a sleek matte red, this is similar to the two hands that are finished in a deep red, which complements the red trim of the tartan leather strap. The most alluring design feature is the exhibition window, made of mineral glass, that allows the wearer to view the inner mechanisms of the watch. This is a great allusion to the gadgety that serves as an inspiration for this watch. The coil and the circuit board is visible. This provides a great insight into Swatchâs famous quartz movement, made for Swatch by ETA. It features a battery which is external to the case, allowing for quick and easy battery change. This Swatch James Bond Q Watch SS07Z100 has a water resistance of 30 metres. The Brand: Swatch Founded in 1983, Swatch was a direct response to the âwatch crisisâ . The âwatch crisisâ began in 1970âs due to the increase in production of cheap, mass-produced quartz watches from the Far East. Swiss exports were falling. In the space of just a few years, the number of persons employed in the Swiss watchmaking industry fell to less than 40,000. Despite this the Swiss watchmaking industry remained focused on supplying the watch market with traditional movements paired with proven sale methods. The name Swatch derives from the idea that it was seen as being a âsecond watchâ. The average Swatch owner uses their collection as an emotional statement to suit whatever mood they were in. Their watches soon became primarily used as a âfashion accessoryâ rather than a device to tell the time. The slogan âfashion that ticks' summarises this ideology best. Swatch has always immersed itself in popular culture. Doing so through collaborations and sponsorship of special events, creating limited products with high demand. The brand is well aware of its collectable value, as they established the âSwatch Collectors of Swatchâ club that had 74,500 members in less than two years.
