Product Description

Tasting Notes Laudemio is the fine wine of extra virgin olive oil and has been described by The Telegraph as one of the "50 foods to try before you die". When the Prince of Wales visited Frescobaldi he planted an olive tree and now receives a bottle of Laudemio each year. Made from three kinds of olive - Moraiolo Leccino and Pendolino - this oil has won countless awards from Slow Food Los Angeles Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition New York International Olive Oil Competition and even Wine Spectator. The bottle's appearance is that of a perfume which is befitting of this highly aromatic full-throttle emerald green extra virgin olive oil. A little of this finishing oil goes a long way with its rich flavours of mown grass artichoke kale chicory green peppercorn and fresh herbs; it tastes like it was freshly pressed yesterday. Drizzle over simple salads ribollita minestrone ravioli steamed greens like chard and romanesco or - as the Tuscans do - Bistecca alla Fiorentina. Following a devastating winter in 1985 that killed 90% of Tuscany's olive trees Frescobaldi decided to rethink the way they made oil. Applying the knowledge they'd acquired making fine wines throughout Tuscany they focussed on excellence and enforced stricter rules upon themselves and their growers than required by law. The result was Laudemio; the name is a medieval term referring to the very best part of the crop saved for the feudal lord's own table. For over 30 years this has been not just one of Italy's but one of the world's leading extra virgin olive oils. Full Ingredients Ingredients: Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
