This super 40s design pattern is for a mans 'Smart' Fair Isle Slipover and Tartan Socks. The slipover is designed for a man with a 36-38 inch chest and the socks to fit a foot ten inches or 'as required'. A truly classic 1940's design in every way! The slipover was constructed originally in 3-ply wool, whilst the socks were made in W.B Lyric Knitting Wool. I have found no information about the 'Lryic' wool, but judging by the tension and needles, I would think it was a 2-ply wool. However, as both of these wools are now long discontinued, you may consider a modern 4-ply for the slipover and try a modern 3-ply for the socks as vintage yarns were heavier than modern, but do work your tension square, and change needles (or ply for the socks) to obtain the tension stipulated in the pattern. There is also a small chart for the slipover Fair Isle pattern, BUT NO CHART FOR THE TARTA.

Refunds
