Product Description

Cicerone Scotland's Best Small Mountains is a walking guide to 40 of the best small mountains in Scotland, UK, under 3000ft (non-Munros), with various ascents all accessible to non-climbers. Selected for anything but size, day walks in Sutherland and the far north, Torridon, Lochaber, the Great Glen, the Cairngorms, Glencoe, Arrochar, the Trossachs and the islands (Skye, Eigg, Mull, Arran). When Sir Hugo Munro compiled a list of Scottish mountains over 3000ft back in 1891, he could hardly have predicted the enthusiasm that would arise for climbing them all. But the popularity of Munro-bagging has left many of Scotland’s finest mountains overlooked by walkers. This book sets out to champion some of those smaller peaks, selected for their character, location, views and sheer beauty. From the surreal landscape of The Storr in Skye to the imposing and rugged ridges of Quinag in Sutherland, this guide is, in its own way, an antidote to Munro-bagging. Profiles and ascents of 40 mountains, right across Scotland A range of routes and alternatives for all abilities, illustrated with OS mapping  Find More  All Guide Books
